Seddons GSC

Great imagery isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about inviting people into an image and sharing a story. When Seddons relocated to Fitzrovia, they saw an opportunity to refresh their visual identity, and we were excited to help bring their new space and team to life…

Capturing a New Office Space

When photographing an office space, the first step is, of course, to get the right angles. But of equal importance is ensuring each component within the frame is properly lit.

Over the years, Mark Weeks Photo & Video have developed a style of shooting that starts with taking an unlit base shot. From there, we then shoot a series of frames, adding light to different parts of a room–accenting all the important features of the space. Once back in the studio and tucked behind a Photoshop screen, we carefully blend the different frames to craft a composite.

While this process is quite labour-intensive, it ensures that the resulting image looks as true-to-life as possible. The colours are correct and decorative details that might have been lost if they were unlit, have been captured perfectly. Our process of shooting brings an interior designer’s vision to life.

Bringing Personality to Corporate Headshots

While on-site, the marketing manager asked if we did portraits. "Absolutely!" Many of our team members honed their skills doing corporate headshots, and this was no exception. Corporate headshots are second nature to us.

Seddons wanted to shake things up and try a new photographer. Their existing look—a relaxed pose on a light blue background—was straightforward to replicate. The technical side of portrait photography—lighting, camera settings, background, etc. all need to be in order, of course, but it’s getting the subject’s personality to shine through that transforms a good headshot into a great headshot, and that is where our team shines.

Through our relaxed approach, we aim to put each person at ease, let them open up, share fantastic stories about themselves, and ultimately let their true personality show through—that is when we get the very best images. It’s a bit like being a talented barber or precise manicurist—yes, customers expect they’ll get what they came for, but it’s the experience and interaction with these people that keep customers going back again and again.

We shoot with the light from the left. Shoot with the light from the right. Determine which side is best, confirm it with our subject, and then set to swift work to capture them at their best. We often think if we haven’t nailed it in nine frames, we’re not working hard enough.

Our first portrait shoot with Seddons went completely to plan. We shot and then reviewed the images in real time with the subjects, ensuring every detail—clothing, hair, ties—was just right. Once we had a sufficient selection, we worked with each person to select their best shot, taking extra care to make sure everyone left happy.

We don’t just take photos–we craft a visual identity that tells a story.

A New Visual Identity for a New Chapter

A year later, Seddons reached out again. With an upcoming merger, they needed a complete visual refresh—new branding, a new website, and imagery that highlighted their people, not just their services. The firm, now known as Seddons GSC, wanted to stand apart from traditional “City Firms” and appeal to clients drawn to a West End, Fitzrovia-based experience.

During our meeting, the CEO shared how much he liked the environmental portraits on our website. He felt they conveyed more personality than a standard headshot. With that in mind, we recommended a dual approach: a mix of in-situ portraits showcasing personality, alongside clean, plain-background shots for versatility in proposals and marketing materials.

The brief was wonderfully open-ended, allowing us to take a creative lead. We captured three unique portrait styles for each person—outdoor, indoor, and against a warm white wall—along with lifestyle shots of the team in action and atmospheric images of Fitzrovia’s leafy streets. The result? A dynamic image library forming the backbone of the new Seddons GSC website, social media, and recruitment campaigns.

Expanding Our Collaboration

As with many of our clients, our initial project opened the door to further work. During the CEO’s shoot, we discovered they needed a video to create a polished announcement for the merger. Within weeks, we produced a professional short featuring the two managing partners introducing the newly merged firm.

And Finally…

Seeing our work come to life on the Seddons GSC website was the perfect conclusion to this project. The homepage collage showcases the full breadth of our imagery—professional yet approachable portraits, dynamic team shots, and striking environmental photography—all working together to tell their story.

It’s always rewarding to know that our visuals don’t just sit in a folder but play a key role in shaping a brand’s identity, helping them connect with clients and stand out in a competitive market.
